2010
  • ST Forceful’s 85th Birthday at QMM. To commemorate the birthday, a donated plant, Hibiscus 85 from the Queensland Hibiscus Society, was planted on the riverbank near the Bulwer Light.
  • 8 October – The wooden motor launch Dolphin (built in 1919 in Sydney) was donated and lifted out of the river for refurbishment by the Wooden Boat group.

2011

  • 13 January – Brisbane River Flood – QMM grounds flooded. ST Forceful and replica sailing Ship Duyfken remained secured to the wharf while the Light Ship Carpentaria floated, then sank in the Dry Dock. HMAS Diamantina rose up with the flood waters and remained secure and in place.
  • 2 April – Jessica Watson’s Ella’s Pink Lady yacht passed over to QMM as a permanent display, after a generous donation by the State and Federal Governments.
  • 4 April – A volunteer crew from the visiting USS nuclear submarine City of Corpus Christi, spent time at QMM cleaning HMAS Diamantina’s propellers.
  • 4 April – ST Forceful slipped.
  • New galvanized stair case installed in the Dry Dock to enable visitor access to the Dry Dock floor.
  • 1 November – New entrance with a demountable ticket box opened at the river end of the Museum.
  • Svitzer company completed the resettlement of the Carpentaria after the sinking in the 2011 flood.
  • New visitor viewing platform beside the Penguin completed.

  • QMM Audio Tours introduced with new QMM Support Map brochure.
  • 5 February – QMM grounds used for the Annual RAN Naval Officer intake.
  • 16 February – QMM Social Club river cruise held to view the new Queen Mary II at the port of Brisbane.
  • April – A 1940’s era Inboard speed boat, donated and displayed at QMM.
  • Coal Wagon restored and placed on replica rail line that actually passed through the museum grounds.
  • Replica Smoking Room from the QGSY Lucinda shifted from the Supreme Court of Queensland to the main floor of QMM.
  • 24-28 September – The 1st QMM Pirates Week with Pantomime, held for children during the school holidays.

  • 6, 13 and 20 January –  QMM Mariner Mondays children’s activity held.
  • 7-9 March – QMM hosts the Australian Maritime Museum National Conference at the museum and the Ship Inn hotel.
  • Exhibition opened – “Galloping Ghosts: The Brisbane 18ft Sailing Boats.”
  • New internal staircase completed between the Lighthouse area and the main floor.
  • April – HMAS Diamantina 70th anniversary celebrations at QMM.

  • 24-28 June – QMM Pirates Week held during the school holidays.
  • 31 July – US Navy crew volunteers from the USS George Washington CVN 73 assisted in a clean up of the Dry Dock floor.
  • Work commenced on building a new shelter over the Ella’s Pink Lady and Freedom, the ocean rowing boat.
  • 11 October – Open Day as part of The Brisbane Open Day program.
  • 26 November – The launch of the book “More Than a Haircut and Shave”, written by QMMA volunteers David Jones and Peter Nunan, describing the history of the South Brisbane Dry Dock, was officially launched by the Hon. Andrew Powell MLA, Minister for Environment and Heritage Protection.
  • December – The Museum’s main exhibition galleries named as the Rod and Joan McLeod Galleries, in recognition of their enormous contribution.
