TIMELINE OF EVENTS 2000-2009
2000
- 7 August – ST Forceful slipped.

December – To commemorate the 1788 landing of the First Fleet at Sydney Cove, eleven superb, hand-crafted models of the vessels that made up the historic fleet were on display in Gallery 1.
2001
- 21 October – The Goodwill Bridge was opened.
- 21 October – Qld Premier Beattie opened the extension to the QMM display building.
- Sunday 19 November – Anniversary steaming of Forceful and celebrating 75th anniversary of her launching.
- Works begin to restore the Dry Dock Pump House.

2001/2002
- Qld Government funding provides a building extension.
2002
- December – “Marine Artists” exhibition by the Australian Society of Marine Artists.
2003
- May – Work started on restoring the Towmotor tractor on loan from the Queensland Museum.
2005
- Works begin to replace the original Caisson with concrete wall.
- A defused USN Mark 14 WW2 torpedo arrives at QMM on permanent loan from the United States Navy.




2006
- 28 March – HMAS Diamantina now floating, removed from the dock.
- 20 May – HMAS Diamantina returned to dock with Lightship CLS2 Carpentaria.
- July – ST Forceful slipped. This was a significant slipping as it was determined then that she would no longer be issued with a registration certificate, so could no longer operate her trips on the river.
- October – Exhibition ”Maritime Masterpieces” by the Australian Society of Marine Artists.
- 21 November – Official opening of the new Dock Wall replacing the Caisson.



2007
- Restored Dry Dock Pump House and Boiler Room opened to the public.
- 30 April – 1606 Replica Dutch sailing ship Duyfken berths at the QMM wharf for an extended stay.
- Penguin facelift including caulking and painting the hull, and construction of a new cradle to hold the vessel.
2008
- July – Exhibition “Brisbane at Sea – Cutter to Container ship” by Don Braben.
2009
- 12 September – 30th QMM Anniversary Celebrations and firing of a Clifton cannon by the Qld Governor, The Honourable Penelope Wensley AC.
- Queensland Government’s Gambling Community Benefit Fund provided $21,547 to the Museum towards the restoration of the Lightship Carpentaria.
- The 17th century replica sailing vessel Duyfken returns to be berthed at the Dry Dock entry.
