A great maritime museum doesn’t sail alone! The Queensland Maritime Museum relies on the passion, generosity and support of our community, dedicated volunteers and businesses to keep our stories, vessels and maritime heritage afloat.
And there’s a place on board for you!
Whether you have specialist skills, a little spare time or simply a love of maritime history, we’d love you to join our crew. No experience is necessary – there’s a role for everyone at the Museum.
Keeping Our Maritime Heritage Afloat
Our mission is to spark an interest in maritime history, share knowledge, preserve important historic artefacts and bring these stories to life for everyone to enjoy.
We’re also committed to caring for some remarkable pieces of Australia’s maritime heritage, including:
- HMAS Diamantina – Australia’s largest surviving World War II vessel.
- Lightship Carpentaria – an important part of our maritime history.
- South Brisbane Dry Dock – the historic home of the Museum.
How Can You Come Aboard?
