Queensland Maritime Museum is currently going through a staged re-opening process. Bookings are not essential under current restrictions and as part of our Covid Safe Plan. However, this may change under advice from the Queensland Health Department. Walk-ins are welcome. However, if allowable numbers are exceeded under the applying restrictions your visit might be delayed until the numbers are reduced.
Access under our Covid Safe Plan
Queensland Maritime Museum covers a large site and if you would like to optimise your time inside and outside of the museum, please give yourself sufficient time to see all our exhibits.
Visitors to QMM will still be able to enjoy walking the foredeck, main deck and quarter deck and some easily accessible internal parts of HMAS Diamantina. However, as a historic warship, the rest of her interior is simply too cramped to allow for safe movement and airflow under our Covid Safe Plan.
Visitors are also not able to go inside the pearl lugger Penguin for the same reason.
Our Steam Tug Forceful is currently undergoing a health check in the slipway at Hemmant, and is not tied up at our wharf.
Visiting the Museum
Visitors booking an entry ticket to Queensland Maritime Museum commencing for a particular date will be asked to exit the main building of the museum by the designated closing time. However, no visitors will be given entry after 1 hour prior to the museum’s published closing time.
Please read QMM’s Conditions of Entry before visiting the museum.
