Our Story, Anchored in History ⚓
Right on the banks of the Brisbane River, the Queensland Maritime Museum is moored on the southern side of the river, just south of South Bank Parklands and a short stroll from the Goodwill Bridge.
A Rich History. A World of Discovery.
Established in 1971, the Museum is built around the historic South Brisbane Dry Dock, which first opened in 1870.
Today, we’re home to some remarkable pieces of Queensland’s maritime history, including HMAS Diamantina, a River Class frigate, and Penguin, a historic pearling lugger. There’s plenty of history to explore, stories to discover and maritime adventures to be had!
