Super Models

17 June 2019 – 28 August 2019

Get up Close and Personal with a Super Model!

The Queensland Maritime Museum has curated a new exhibition that showcases our large collection of ship models. The models cover all periods of history from ancient Egyptian dhows to modern liners and warships. The collection has been built up over the years through donations by modelers and their descendants.

The models range in size from tiny Dinky style models to two-metre-long models like HMAS Brisbane, so detailed that a former sailor could point out his exact mess deck place from the Vietnam War. As well as the freestanding models, there are ships in bottles, an even rarer craft.

The Super Models Exhibition is designed for young and old alike and features:
• Half models display
• Plate models
• Shape of Ships through the Ages
• Historical Queensland vessels
• Ships in Bottles
• Miscellaneous M-ODDdels (A number of strange models hence the ODD!)
