Hot Jazz, cool drinks at the Maritime Museum.
The Twilight Jazz on the River series offers guests the opportunity to enjoy the ambience of the sun setting over the city on a Friday night. The family friendly event is free, with a cash bar and delicious snacks from Australian Catering Services. The monthly events will each feature a high quality jazz band for guests to chill and welcome the weekend.
The first on September 27th will feature the Royal Australian Navy band of HMAS Moreton under the baton of Bandmaster Chief Petty Officer Mike Vaughan. This evening will celebrate World Maritime Day, a thank you to all who risk their lives in Navy ships, container and cargo vessels, ocean liners and fishing boats. The 22 piece band will also welcome vocalists Leading Seaman Gemma Tilly and Able Seaman Mark Jozinovic. This show kicks off from 5.30 until 7.30, when the band plays swing and jazz, so think Sinatra and Buble.
Bring a folding chair or rug and enter via the Lower River Terrace entrance, and get ready to swing! This is a free event!
This event is part of the Bands in Parks program.
