Jane Smith

Ship of Death is a true saga about the voyage and quarantine of the typhus-stricken ship Emigrant. It is the story of 276 desperate assisted immigrants from the United Kingdom who sailed into Moreton Bay in 1850, searching – as so many new arrivals in Australia have done throughout history – for a better life. Their stories are tales of hardship, resilience and despair.

Jane is an author, librarian and editor with experience in school, public and hospital libraries and in school archives. Her books include the children’s historical fiction series Tommy Bell Bushranger Boy and the non-fiction Australian Bushrangers series. She also writes for grown-ups! (eg. Captain Starlight: The Strange but True Story of a Bushranger, Impostor and Murderer)

Bookings essential! $30 including a delicious Devonshire Tea.
