A voluntary organisation like the Queensland Maritime Museum and its collection can not exist without the involvement of the public and the support of interested businesses.
The Queensland Maritime Museum Association invites all to join our group of dedicated workers. No matter what your skills, we have a place for you at the Museum.
It is our aim to promote interest in and knowledge of maritime history, preserve historical artifacts and display them for the benefit of the public. This also includes the preservation of vessels such as the ex HMAS Diamantina, Australia’s largest surviving World War 2 vessel, our famous steam tug Forceful, the lightship Carpentaria and the dock itself.
You can become involved with the Museum in a number of ways, including:
As a member of the Association
As a volunteer for the Museum
By making a donation or bequest
By sponsorship of an item, display or activity
The Board of Directors thanks all for their generous support of the objectives of the Museum.
Mon-Sun 9.30am to 4.30pm (last entry 3.30pm)
Closed 24-26 December and Easter Friday.
ANZAC Day – reduced trading hours.
Make a Donation
The Queensland Maritime Museum appreciates the generous financial support we receive from individuals and organisations in the form of donations and sponsorship.
Financial gifts are welcomed and can be allocated to specific projects at the request of the donor and with the agreement of the Board of Directors. The current gift funds are Diamantina, Forceful and Library.
Membership to The Queensland Maritime Museum Association provides an opportunity to support the objectives of the Museum and the programs it runs. Our members participate in the day-to-day running of the Museum and the upkeep of Steam Tug Forceful.
