The captain was the only person on board to have his own toilet and shower, attached as an ensuite to his Day Cabin. All others shared. The officers had their own as did the Chiefs and Petty Officers. The lower rates, over 100 men, shared this one washroom. A very crowded place when shore leave was pending.
Water for showering was hot and cold fresh water.
It is interesting to note that documentation suggests that Australian ships had two shower cubicles only. No 20 minute showers here!!
